Kieren Jeane is a New York-based painter and writer. She is interested in depicting everyday objects as iconographies of popular culture, consumerism, and feminism. All the items and ideas she wishes to possess motivate her to paint them– an Italian greyhound, Pedro Pascal, a blonde boy with nice pecs, a leather mini-skirt, an espresso machine, etc. She appreciates the ornamental and functional value of art as objects that add beauty and satisfaction to the day-to-day in domestic or commercial spaces, just like the subject matters of her paintings. This inspired her to explore lighting furniture as surfaces for painting. Jeane's writings, also concerning the quotidian desires for material abundance and self-discovery, can be found on her regularly kept blog, ifyoucangivegoodhead.org.
